A stellar profile will help you stand out in a crowded space.
Here are some quick tips to get you started!
Here is a quick checklist to help you focus on the key areas of your LinkedIn profile:
- Claim your vanity URL
Create your own personalized LinkedIn profile URL by clicking ‘Edit public profile & URL’ on the right sidebar. It will help people easily find you on LinkedIn. - Use a professional headshot photo
Use a professional photo that shows your full face and that would create a good impression. - Add your value proposition to your headline
Answer the questions: “Who do you help and how do you help them,” e.g. “Marketing Manager at Company X – enabling marketers with digital strategic guidance and insights”. - Include your contact information
You don’t have to include all your contact information but you can at least include your business email. - Add a summary
Write a short summary of your overall experience, what you do or how you help your customers, your accomplishments, and how people can contact you. - Include relevant keywords throughout your profile
Find relevant keywords using Google. Plug that keyword into LinkedIn search. Sprinkle those keywords throughout your LinkedIn profile. - Tell your story with visuals
Add rich media to your profile – in the summary, job description, posts, and also in your articles. - List your current job role
Write a detailed description of your job role including your accomplishments and the impact you made in that role. - List skills that are relevant to your current role
List your relevant strengths in the Skills section. - Reinforce your credibility with testimonials
Get as many testimonials as you can get from happy past or current clients. - Post relevant content on a regular basis
Share your insights and experiences on LinkedIn by posting at least once a week. See what format works for your audience.
